Farmers' Market Coop of East Liberty Update

Update for Saturday, May 24th

We hope you will make a visit to the market part of your Memorial Day Holiday.  We will have lots of great stuff at the market, inlcuding locally grown spring items.  Local items including asparagus, spring lettuces, ramps, and rhubarb.  Also lots of plants and hanging baskets for the garden.

We just received a large shipment of fresh pressed California olive oil.  We now have 7 varieties, including 4 that are certified organic.  We also got a new shipment of bottles.

Please come out to the market and support your local farmers.

The Update....

J.L. KENNEDY MEAT STAND

Special items we have to offer on May 24th for the big kick off picnic weekend for MEMORIAL DAY !

Greenawalt Farm
 
Brian is in Somerset County visiting the Amish farms. Local items inlcude lettuce, asparagus, rhubarb, ramps and fresh herbs.  Brian also will have vegetable and herb transplants for the garden. He still has some locally grown fall items including butternut squash, potatoes, yams, onions and dried shelling beans.  He said there may be a few surprises. Also, fresh maple candy and syrup.   He will also have some shipped in fruits and vegetables. 
 
Brian has chicken manure that can be used for fertilizer.  This will be the last day for manure!
 
Greenawalt's always have fresh local eggs and many types of Amish canned items such as jellies and jams. They also have some cured meat items from Lancaster County.

Zang's Greenhouse... Rick have fresh local asparagus, ramps, lettuce, micros, rhubarb and PA grown mushrooms.  Shipped in ietms include Vidalia sweet onions, beets, radishes, swiss chard, carrots, brocolli, zucchini, kale, potatoes, tomatoes, and peppers.  Southern Blueberries are in.
 
Rick will also have flowers and vegetable transplants.
 
 
California Connection-  We now have our full line of 2014 vintage oils to offer.  All are certified Extra Virgin by the Califorinia Olive Oil Council.  Four of the oils are also certified organic. Our offerings are:

Kew Park Coffee Bar-  We just received a shipment of fresh roasted coffee from the farm in Jamaica.  At the juice bar we have valencias from California.
 
Wheel and Wedge Cheese-   We have some new cheeses just shipped in.  We received the Birchrun Blue and Fat Cat.  Stop by and try some.  
 
Pastamore' barrel-aged vinegars-  These are being brought to us by long time market customer Sylvia Lynch.  Offerings inlcude basic balsamic vinegar, but also other flavored vinegars. Free tastes, of course.  Stop by and talk to Sylvia and try these vinegars. Flavors include:

- Sweet elderberry juice combined with our white balsamic vinegar creates a subtly sweet yet slightly tart flavor.

- Blackberry Balsamic  Pure balsamic vinegar is blended with blackberries to create a thick, rich and full-bodied vinegar.

- Dark Sweet Cherry Balsamic Vinegar  Combined with hand-picked Dark Sweet Cherries create the perfect flavor as a salad dressing for spinach or fresh greens.

- Citrus Balsamic Vinegar has been blended with sweet oranges, tangerines, and a splash of lime to create this inspirational and versatile vinegar.

The Greek Gourmet- will have homemade spinach and meat pies at the market each week- in addition to 20+ flavors of hummus.  Stop by and talk to Jack at the booth.

BANDY Woodworks All items are made in their shop using local reclaimed and salvaged wood and non-toxic finishes.  They just got in a fresh bactch of beautiful cutting boards.

The Farmers' Market Cooperative of East Liberty is located at 344 North Sheridan Ave., adjacent to the Home Depot parking lot.  The market operates year round- and is open from 5 AM until 12 noon every Saturday of the year.
