Farmers' Market Coop of East Liberty Update

Posted 10/11/2013 9:59am by Miranda Combs.

Update for Saturday, October 12th

Hello farmers market fans.  Fall is here and we have many locally grown fall items at the market this week.  These include cider, apples, brussels sprouts, pumpkins, gourds, squash, concord grapes, etc.  At the same time, we still have lots of "summer" items like tomatoes and peppers.  This is probably the last week for sweet corn.

See you at the market.

The Update....

I just spoke to Brian and we will have quite truckload of Amish grown fruit and vegetables.  He will be heading out to Somerset County again tomorrow, so expect some surprises.

I expect he will have honeydew mellons, rhubarb, green beans, onions (several varieties) leeks, hot peppers and green peppers, zucchini, yellow squash, cukes, pears, honeycrisp apples, grapes, swiss chard, fresh garlic, cabbage, tomatoes (several varieties), potatoes (blue, white, yukon gold and red), and fresh herbs.  Brian also has freshly grown, dried herbs.  Also Brian will have several varieties of shelling beans.

A full line of winter squash is now available, as well as fall items like decorating squash and pumpkins.

Greenawalt's always have fresh local eggs and many types of Amish canned items and dried beans. They also have some cured meat items from Lancaster County- bacon and kielbasa.
